I’m going to have to get better at taking photos when I’m out and about. I know that photos are fairly essential for blog success and I can only get so far on GIFs and photos lifted from the internet. One of these days I will get this blogging thing down.
I knew we had a big weekend ahead so we really just hung around the house. I had a pretty bad headache so we went to bed early. It was the first week of classes and I forgot how busy I am during the school year.
Bright and early wake up call for an 8 mile run. I got up at 5:30 so I would have time to get something to eat. We really pushed the pace on the first three miles and took it pretty easy on the last 5. It is funny how short 8 miles seems during marathon training. When we first started training I never thought I would feel this way about mid-length runs but I do and it is great! After our run we got cleaned up, took Linus to doggy day care and headed to Ocean’s of Fun. OofF is a local water park (and by local I mean about an hour from our apartment). We had made plans to visit for my birthday. Neither the husband or I had been in about ten years so we weren’t sure what to expect. The verdict is that we had a good time but we probably won’t be back. There was one pretty sweet water slide where you stand almost straight up on a small platform and the ride counts down from 3, at the last second the platform drops from underneath your feet and you fall straight down for a few seconds before starting the slide. It was quite the heart pounding experience! We wanted to ride it again but the lines were a little long and we weren’t that motivated. We swam around and went a on a few more slides before heading back home. We had a small dinner party to get to and we had a really nice time, after that we met some friends at a bar and headed home pretty early.
The husband and I woke up and got straight to work cleaning the house and doing laundry, we got so much done and apparently the key to getting that stuff done is just not to sit down. Later that afternoon we headed to Topeka to my mom’s house. We were having my family birthday dinner. It was such a nice time. In my family the person celebrating their birthday gets to pick their dinner and birthday dessert. (Is that how it works in your family? It sounds pretty standard to me…) Anyway, one of my very very very favorite food blogs is how sweet it is. Seriously, this girl delivers some seriously insane recipes. I drool over her posts daily and have made several of them, they are all delish! So I asked my mom to make me easy grilled salmon with bacon with peanut butter cupcakes with chocolate cheesecake frosting for dessert (for reals). Both recipes were so delicious and I’m still enjoying those cupcakes at all times of day, cake for breakfast anyone? We had a nice evening. I felt very loved and spoiled. One of my gifts was a giftcard to Amazon which I’ve already spent. I used it to buy a Camelbak Marathoner Vest. I’m really excited about it getting here, I’ve heard good things. I really hate to carry water, or pretty much anything while I’m running so hopefully this will eliminate that burden on my long runs.
Ugh, posts without pictures are pretty dry huh? I promise to be better in the future. That about does it for the weekend. I know that because yesterday was a holiday it could technically be considered part of the weekend but I want to save that chat for tomorrow.
